I joined the Couch to 5K in May 2014 & I really struggled at first, but I stuck with it & finished the course & went on to run over 8 miles 5 months later which I never thought that I'd be able to achieve, but with the help & encouragement from everyone at the Chafford Hundred running group (especially Vanessa) I was able to do this. I did the leadership course in June 2015 as I really like to help & encourage people to be able to run & also to enjoy running. So many people that I talk to say that they CAN'T run but you CAN do it....I did. Kerry xx
Following a long break from running (20 years) I decided to get fit again. After training myself up to a half marathon distance, I knew I needed help to enable me make the marathon distance. I joined CHRG in May 2014 and I was guided, assisted and educated to be able to complete my first marathon in Chelmsford the same year. In order to give something back to the group and it's fantastic members, I became a Leader in Running Fitness. I now regularly help train members of the group, pass on some of my knowledge and experience and help others achieve the goals they set themselves!!!
I joined the club in Aug 12 after seeing an article in the Chafford Hundred magazine. I have taken part in various events; Nuclear Races, Nice Rock ‘n’Roll 10 miles (twice), Amsterdam HM & have completed the Newham 10k twice. Running in the Olympic stadium was one of the most amazing things I’ve done. I now lead the walking group on a Monday and I’m one of the leaders for the Tuesday & Thursday sessions.
First started running in 2009 when I signed up for RFL with some work colleagues. In 2012 I saw an article in the Chafford Hundred Magazine about a running group called “Chafford Cheetahs” I started running with the group around Sept 2012, the following year I entered my first HM – Nike Run to the Beat in Sept 2013. I became a Leader in Feb 2015 and have just completed my 2nd HM Royal Parks – Oct 2015. I am also in my fifties – so never too old LOL ;-)
