Booking the appointment was done directly with Kim, who told me the available appointment times, which included evenings and weekends, making it very convenient and easy to fit in. I went for the Saturday morning appointment at 9am.

The clinic is easy to find and has ample free parking.

Upon entering the clinic I was greeted by a friendly Kim who was ready and waiting. Kim took me through to a private room, which was clean and warm and had some music playing. I sat down with Kim who then discussed with me at length what kinds of aches and pains I get when running or exercising, and noted them down. I explained to Kim that I only get pains in my legs when running or exercising, particularly down the front of my shins. Kim then performed some simple and pain free tests to find out exactly where my trouble areas were before she began the massage. The tests indicated that I had tight calf muscles and a tight IT Band (in the thigh).

I was asked to remove my leggings and lie on the bed for the massage to begin. What I liked is that Kim made me feel really comfortable, when having massages previously it can always be a bit awkward when you are asked to remove your clothing, but this was not the case with Kim and I think that’s really important.

Kim explained that the massage may be uncomfortable, but should not be painful, which was as I had expected as it was a sports massage, and that I was to ask at any time if I wanted her to stop. Kim began by “warming up the muscles”, which was a pleasant massage, the massaging then became a bit firmer and I could feel exactly where the tight area’s in my calves were! The best way I can describe it would be as a burning sensation, which was uncomfortable, but not unbearable and I did not have to ask Kim to stop at any point. It helped that Kim is really chatty and easy to talk to, and so distracted me from some of the uncomfortable feeling. The same was repeated on my IT band.

When the massage was finished Kim explained the after care and that I was to drink lots of water and keep mobile. I could feel straight away that the massage had made a difference. Over all I was with Kim for an hour, and it was a really enjoyable experience, one of which I am hoping to repeat at least once a month, and would thoroughly recommend.

The day after the massage my legs did ache slightly but I was pleased with this as it showed me the massage had done its job.
10/10 thanks Kim!
